5/29/09 Update on Fay

Dear Friends,

Fay is now at Youville, a rehab hospital with a funny strange name.

She is getting herself physically pumped with exercise and food. She lost alot of weight with the staph that she hasn't totally conquered. We hope that she will be strong enough to endure the chemotherapy which might start in the next 2 weeks.

She really doesn't wish to have visitors or phone calls right now but as soon as she feels better,
we will let you know.

5/26 earlier update on Fay

Dear Friends and Family,

I have loved my life, but not the last two drug-induced months. They have been terrible! The doctors wants to make me well, but do not understand a person who is allergic to just about everything.

Some people just aren't suited to a course of treatment that involves more and more medicine. It amazes me that the medicine I should fear the most – the chemo - I haven't even started yet because of this staph infection. The infection has reached my heart and my liver and has required me to endure two surgeries. So now, on top of all of the awful medicine, I also have pain.

The Mass General has treated me well, although a lot goes on here that you wouldn't believe! (When I really get cross at the nurses, I just poop in my bed and make someone else clean it up. It makes me feel good.)

You are all so dear to me. I wish I were with you. Thank you so much for being my special friend over these many years.
