Vanilla shake and a smile

Fay is still with us.

All the nurses marvel that she is still here. She has had quite a rally. She even sipped some of her favorite, a vanilla shake a day ago, but not much else has been to her lips. Her skin, a radiant peach complexion. When she opens her eyes, a clear and brilliant carribean blue. She has a huge smile on her face whenever Bill or Larry or Fabes is in the room.

I thought to talk to her about death today and she told me gently,
I think we've all had enough of that...

She doesn't have much patience or interest in vistors but she loves to hear about the email and cards and news of all of you. She has told us about the voyage and all the preparation she has done. It's amazing what a twitch of her lips or a pointed finger or a look will tell us volumes. We sit and listen to stories and breathe together and take each day.

Love to you.
Squeeze yourself and your sweethearts a hug.

Fay is peaceful at the Hospice, 6/18

Hi all, This hospice is wonderful. Fay is so radiant and peaceful here. It really makes all of us feel better to know how wonderfully they are caring for her. All the nurses are so tender. The view from her bed looks out to a grassy hill with bunnies and ground hogs hopping about and red wing blackbirds twittering in the trees. We can smell a sea breeze. She doesn't need a tube of oxygen and all the pain has drifted away. Fay is sleeping more and more. Lil came in from Oregon and the youngest grandchild, lil 8 month old Starra had a few moments of precious time with Fay, cooing.

Let's all breathe in and out and look to the great outdoors and visualize a wonderful voyage for Fay. She is all in our thoughts and all of you have been so amazing in your love for such a special person. I will be sure to send info on her condition again within the week.

Love to all, Hopie
